Planet magazine continues to celebrate it's landing in New York City with a party next Wednesday. From their email invitation:
I've been receiving their missives for awhile now, have never read the magazine, but have been impressed by the meaning of what they're trying to do.We hope you’ll make it out for part 2 of the ongoing celebration of our arrival in New York City, which will culminate with a specially themed “Welcome to New York” issue of PLANET Magazine at the end of 2007.
Welcome to New York is dedicated to everyone who has ever come to New York City in search creative and personal freedom, to pursue their art or just the art of living, and this includes just about everyone we know -- from every corner of the earth -- as well as a pantheon of inspirations from the recent and distant Manhattan half-life.
Welcome to New York! Can't wait to see the special issue
Hey now. Seems like I'm not the only one to have gotten this idea!
This blog used to be the top Google search result for the phrase "new yorkest." Now that placeholder site is.
I started this blog July 17, 2006. The actual domain name was registered Aug. 12, 2002 -- and was last updated Aug. 7, 2006.
Curious what they'll do with the site!
Planning ahead for the weekend and trying to catch up on the stack of Time Out New York
back issues that have been piling up, I just flipped through the months
of June and July -- paying special attention to the July 20-26 edition.
Two aspects of the magazine impressed me and make the periodical an
especially useful tool. Not only is the weekly's colored tab navigation
scheme awesome -- Want to look up comedy shows? Flip straight to the
section! -- but the red Free tag highlighting no-cost options is
extremely welcome. Extremely welcome.
This weekend alone, the Instruments and the New Sound of Numbers play at Sound Fix (110 Bedford Ave., Williamsburg) at 4 p.m. Saturday. And Sunday, all the gutter punks will crowd Tompkins Square Park in Manhattan for a matinee put on by the Shadow
featuring the Undead, the Nihilistics, the Radicts, Iconocide, Gateria,
and David Peel and the Lower East Side. That punk-rock fun starts at 2
p.m.
Meanwhile, Free Flix gives you the chance to qualify for free movie tickets.
Thanks, TONY. Your design innovation is easy on my wallet!
