Here's an update on my coffee situation:
I've brought my Bodum French press out of mothballs for this morning's brew. And I'd forgotten what good coffee it makes! Mr. Coffee might make more, but I daresay I prefer French press.
In New York City, where do you buy coffee?
Let me know about your favorite coffee bean sources, and I'll do my best to check them out. (I tend to buy bricks of Cafe El Dorado espresso at the grocery store, and that could stop.)
What's your morning beverage of choice? Coffee, tea, juice? Homemade or store-bought?
I drink coffee. Black, unless I don't think it's very good. Then I add cream and sugar.
During the week, I usually get it somewhere -- when I have an office job, I tend to avail myself of the office coffee, but lately, working from home, I've been going to one of the cafes in my neighborhood to sit and work for several hours. I usually stay for two cups -- maybe three hours -- before I move on.
One of my favorite things about New York street cart and bodega coffee is the characteristic blue-and-white Greek-styled paper cups that most places have. Here, you can buy the paper cups themselves -- and related merchandise. The cup's a New York icon!
On weekends, I make coffee at home.
Or, I did. Because this morning, while I was attempting to make the rare weekday pot of coffee, my coffee maker crapped out.
RIP, Mr. Coffee. RIP.
